About Me

I'm Dana, and this is Mitts ’n Paws, a small, local business based in McFarland, WI. My husband, Brian, and I have two amazing daughters, and family has always been at the heart of what I do. Dogs are a pretty big part of our family, too! Both of our daughters have dogs, and at home we have Oscar, our sweet blind pup, and Chica, who is deaf and came to live with us after my dad moved into assisted living. All of these much loved pups are the inspiration behind the “Paws” in Mitts ’n Paws.

Every product is thoughtfully handcrafted from upcycled materials that I love hunting for and giving new life. I also enjoy creating custom memory pieces from clothing and fabrics belonging to loved ones who have passed away, helping families preserve cherished memories in a unique and heartfelt way.

My passion for sewing comes from my mom, who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2022. What began as a hobby during the pandemic has grown into something I never imagined sharing my creations at craft fairs, through social media, and now here on my website.

Mitts ’n Paws brings together so many things I love: sewing, giving something old a new purpose, creating meaningful keepsakes, and, of course, the dogs who inspired the “Paws” in the name.
